Stop with the Weight Loss Commericals!

If I see another weight loss commercial I am going to scream. OMG!!! I know there is a market out there for people wanting to believe the scams (ok maybe that is harsh) but!

No! I don't want to skip breakfast and lunch and replace it with your shake, if I want to shake I will turn on some music. That should burn some calories.

Also I don't care if you got some new chefs to make your food system better than ever! Yes I know 90 days of exercise will change my body, I can get that whether I use your method or not! Finally, just because some singer lost some weight counting points doesn't make me want to count points too... I can't hate on her though she looks FAB!

All jokes aside (if you found that funny) I have nothing against those commercials it's just sometimes like they are so ANNOYING!Especially when you see one every other commercial. What I hate most of those commercials is that they never give you all the facts. They tell you how much weight a particular person has lost but they never tell you how long it took them to lose the weight. They also do not tell you how much exercise the person did or for how long. Never mind the fact that they put in small (barely visible) white writing that Results May Vary! But I guess I should complain about the food commercials rather than the workout commercials because food commercials always make me hungry! But that is another post for another day.

  1. Hehe, Jennifer does look amazing. I know what you mean, though. It is hard to listen to companies trying to sell quick fixes when you KNOW it's not just *that* easy.

  2. lol EXACTLY! I hate the idea of quick fixes. There are no real quick fixes it's like putting a bandage on a second degree burn when you rip it off it there is nothing but pain..

  3. Some of those commercials are incredible! Haven't we learned anything yet-Diets Don't Work!!!! Lifestyle Changes Work!!!

  4. There was a popular tv celeb in England who kept doing adverts promoting a certain diet and saying how wonderful it was and how it helped her lose a lot of weight and then in the papers a few months later they exposed the fact that she actually had a g-band fitted and wasn't actually dieting.

Those commercials are all about the companies making a quick buck on people struggling over the Christmas period. They know people will fall for them but like Lucy said, we all know that it's about lifestyle change, not a quick diet. Those commercials are annoying!

  5. @ Lucy I totally agree with you, life style change is the only thing that works, diets are short term, to maintain a loss you have to make a life style change that you keep for LIFE!

@Tim, I know of an American Celeb who had a similar scandal she was promoting this cream or something that she said tightened her skin and kept her looking young and come to find out she actually had some cosmetic surgery done. Can you imagine how much she stumbled over her words when the truth came out?

  6. Wonder why they don't do the disclaimer thing like drug companies....This product is a fad...Results may vary ~ um..like this product won't work for you...This product is expensive! The actors in this commerical have had weight loss surgery...This actors pictures have been digitally enhanced...You will not get results by just taking this pill ~ you have to change your lifestyle ~ you need to reduce your calories and increase your activity...Or how about this one...Obesity kills!!

It's so sad, I feel for the people falling for this stuff. I used to one of them!

    Keep focused!!

  7. I know exactly how you feel! I don't need a quick fix. I need to change my lifestyle and my eating habits. I am so done with trying fad diets and crazy weight loss programs. Eating healthy, in moderation and working out is working just fine for me.

  8. I saw an expose on some weight loss advertisements and always wondered how those people went from looking all 'frumpy' to like models. Turns out, they pay fit people to gain a bunch of weight, take a photo of them, and then allow them to lose the weight they gained. So really, those photos were of people who were being paid to gain and lose weight. Very, very sneaky!

  9. @ Joy I think that would be a good idea. I would certainly enjoy watching them if that was the case.

@Girly Girl: Fads do more damage than they are worth

@Ellen: That is so interesting and I really believe that is true.. They are so sneaky!!

  10. Funny! I tell people all of the time that I DO NOT DIET! So I don't want to hear sh*t coming out of your mouth when you see me eating a candy bar! My lifestyle has changed and it affords me "mini luxuries!" Diets are a joke! Do I believe J Hud lost weight with WW, yes, it's quite possible because I use WW. Do I believe she cooks, plans her meals, plans her workouts without a trainer AND mothers her child....NO! Kirsty Alley prances around singing the praises of Jenny Craig and now she's larger than ever! Diets are BIG business so unfortunately the commercials will not end...sorry Shannie!
