Slave to the scale...

It is almost as if it is taunting me, it calls my name constantly. Every ten seconds I have the urge to stand on it.  It is like a demon in my ear, I hear it whispering to me, every time I eat something, exercise or drink something, it calls to me, it is almost like it is seducing me. (with a Pepe Le skunk voice) "Hey pretty thing, be a good girl, and stand on me, weigh yourself, you know you want to do it. And I want you to do it. Will you please stand on me and ease this pain of separation that we are experiencing"  Rather than fight the temptation I do it, I stand on the scale and I weigh myself, I have gotten to the point that I weigh myself no less than 30 times a day.  I am sitting here writing this blog and thinking about weighing myself. In fact I am going to take a pause and go and weigh myself...lol (Seriously I did weigh myself) All jokes aside, Hi My name is Shantell and I am addicted to the scale!

  1. I had to hide my scale, literally. If I put it up then it hinders me from taking the time to pull it back out.

  2. I hear you on this, but I have trained myself to once a day. Maybe twice if I weight at the gym also. Maybe you have to start by cutting back. Aim to only go on it twice a day. Instead of multiple times.

  3. I seriously think you and I have read each other's minds today. I worked on a post all evening that I'll run tomorrow morning and it's all about the scale and weighing in all of the time. I love this post! You are not the only one, Shantell. I think everyone, everywhere can relate.

  4. @The fat mom I am going to consider getting rid of my scale in January if I can't curve this habit.

@MissHaneefa: I am making an effort not to stand on the scale at all this week until friday

@Ellen; I just read your post and I loved it! Your posts are always so well written and informative. I really was able to relate with it.

  5. I was exactly the same when I first started trying to lose weight. When standing on the scales, it can be exciting, horrible, frustating and joyful all at different times. I literally forced myself not to stand on them and now I try not to weigh myself until Monday evening after I finish work and the gym. It's so hard but now it's even more exciting leading up to the weigh in day. Great post! :)

  6. @ Tim the scale is evil but there is a thrill that comes along with seeing the number go down. I am making an effort to only weigh myself once a week (on Fridays)
